Evidence-Based Practice Guideline for the Management of Feeding in Monash Newborn
Monash Newborn and the Centre for Clinical Effectiveness are developing an evidence-based practice guideline for the establishment of enteral and oral feeding, with a focus on helping infants to establish full sucking feeds. Expected benefits include reduction in variability of care, decrease in length of stay, cost savings and increased clinician and parent satisfaction.
Introduction of New Technologies and Clinical Practices at Southern Health
The Centre for Clinical Effectiveness is the Secretariat of the Southern Health Technology/Clinical Practice Committee (TCPC). The project to establish an evidence-based systematic framework for the introduction of new technologies and clinical practices at Southern Health is currently in a piloting phase. Objectives have included the development of new terms of reference for the TCPC and the establishment of a new application process and monitoring and reporting system; and dissemination, implementation and evaluation planning.
Toolkit for development, implementation and evaluation of guidelines in local healthcare settings
The Centre for Clinical Effectiveness is developing a 'How to' guide to assist health services in developing new or adapting existing guidelines for use in their clinical settings.
External Projects
TAC/WorkSafe Evidence Service
The TAC and WorkSafe have engaged the Centre for Clinical Effectiveness in partnership with the Australasian Cochrane Centre to deliver an 'Evidence Service'. The Evidence Service will support evidence-based decision-making for relevant TAC/WorkSafe activities through provision of evidence for clinical policy issues, evidence to address issues of interest and/or inform projects, other evidence-related services and publication and dissemination of evidence-based information.
Past Projects
Health for Kids in the South East
The Health for Kids project was aimed at improving health outcomes for children and young people in the Southern Health catchment area through development of evidence-based guidelines, clinical paths and new paediatric services.
For further information please see the Health for Kids website.
