Health for Kids aims to improve health outcomes for children and young people in the Southern Health catchment area.

Working with consumers and GPs, we have developed innovative new services and evidence based guidelines and clinical paths which aim to prevent common paediatric illnesses and to manage them in the best possible way, to either keep children out of hospital or to make their stay shorter.

Health for Kids is built on a partnership between the Centre for Clinical EffectivenessSouthern Health’s Children’s Program and the Monash University Department of Paediatrics. It is funded through the Victorian Department of Human Services Hospital Admission Risk Program and is founded on two principles:

  • Assisting health professionals to practice to the highest standards, and;
  • Linking health professionals so that children get the best service from the right people.
