The Health for Kids Paediatric Evidence Centre provides evidence services to clinicians and managers in the Children’s Program and Emergency Departments at Southern Health.

Evidence-based practice (EBP) is the integration of three elements – best evidence from research, clinical expertise and patient values.

If you would like to increase the use of evidence in your practice there are a number of ways in which we can help:
  • Assisting with designing and carrying out research, including quality improvement activities and medical record audits;
  • Helping identify and appraise evidence to support the development of best practice guidelines & protocols;
  • Supporting you to find and appraise evidence to answer clinical questions;
  • Providing training and support to individuals and groups doing projects.

As our resources are limited, activities are selected on a number of criteria including:

  • Potential to improve practice
  • Established variation in clinical practice or patient outcomes
  • Alignment with the aims of the Southern Health Children’s Program Quality Plan
