Innovative Paediatric Services
Health for Kids has developed new approaches designed to keep children out of hospital yet still provide the specialist paediatric medical and nursing care that they need.
‘Paediatric Rapid Review Service’ has been developed which includes:
- Paediatric Rapid Review Clinic
- GP Advice Line
- Rapid Review Home Nursing Service
Based on an extensive review of the literature, analysis of local data, and contributions from GPs, consumers and hospital staff these new approaches have been developed to reduce hospital admissions and reduce length of hospital stay for children with acute illnesses.
Paediatric Rapid Review Clinic
Providing rapid access (within 48 hours) to review by an experienced paediatrician for children with acute illnesses who would otherwise have been admitted to hospital, but who are well enough to go home.
GP Advice Line
A phone line for GPs to access specialist advice from an experienced paediatrician for advice about caring for children with acute illnesses who would otherwise have sent to the Emergency Department.
Rapid Review Home Nursing Service
Providing nursing services at home for children with acute illnesses who need nursing care, but are well enough to go home from hospital.
